ARDEX 4x4 Cream is a polymer-modified, S1-rated flexible tile adhesive manufactured by ARDEX, a specialist in tile fixing and flooring technology with products used across residential and commercial tiling projects. It's classified to EN 12004 as C2TES1 — an improved, cementitious, deformable adhesive with extended open time — and is suitable for both DIY tilers and professional installers working on standard-setting wall and floor tiling.
This adhesive is formulated for fixing ceramic tiles, porcelain, stoneware, vitrified mosaics and moisture-insensitive natural stone across common substrates, including concrete, cement screeds, plaster, gypsum and masonry. Its S1 deformability rating allows it to absorb minor substrate movement, making it a good fit for floors with underfloor heating and other situations where a fully rigid bond isn't appropriate.
With an open time of around 30 minutes and a pot life of up to 5 hours, ARDEX 4x4 Cream gives installers time to mix larger batches and work methodically before the adhesive skins over. Walls can typically be grouted after around 8 hours, while floors need approximately 24 hours, depending on site conditions and temperature.
Supplied in 25kg bags, ARDEX 4x4 Cream is comparable to other S1-rated standard-set adhesives — such as Larsen Fibreflex Standard Set+ — offering similar flexibility and workability for tilers who need a dependable, general-purpose adhesive for interior and exterior wall and floor tiling.
